Uganda Missions 2024

The Word, the Blood and the Healing of the Nations.

It was my eighteenth and nineteenth mission trip to the East African Nation of Uganda.  Grateful for all the support and prayers from everyone whose gifts made these ministry trips possible. God Bless you.

I arrived in Uganda on January 24 and was joined by a team of ministers, Stephanie Butler, Brent Chapman, Dena Collinge and Alan Selis.  All from the State of Michigan.  In August I was joined by Olivia Buie from Arkansas.

I’m with Evangelist Stephen Waiswa, pastors Michael Kipere and Peter Mwesigwa. Leadership Conference in Namabassa Uganda

Our Ugandan host,  Evangelist Stephen Waiswa arranged leadership conferences and crusades for the group.  Most preachers who come to the mission field pastor their own states-side churches so longer trips are not practical.  I on the other hand am free to remain for longer periods of time.

Muslim Outreach Kampala. Stephen, a former Muslim dismantles Islam. The potters message brings hope, purpose and security only found through Christ.

My January trip lasted five weeks and later four weeks in the month of August. Staying longer allows me to better connect with the Pastors and enables me to get to the “heart of the matter” in what Uganda needs.  Outside of the few mega churches within Kampala, Ugandas Christian Churches do a lot with very little. Uganda is still a very poor country. Life in Uganda was already hard pre-covid but after covid life is still nearly impossible. The average Ugandan man can work a factory job and still only expect to earn a dollar. Sunday morning church offerings reflect that lack of economic opportunity. Still, Church gets done, Jesus is glorified and the gospel is preached. Lives are changed as pastors are faithful with the word. Like us, faithful doesn’t presume perfection, but faithful nonetheless.

Jesus said, concerning the Holy Spirit. “…For he lives with you will be in You.” John 14:17. The Clay is born again.

Using my potters wheel, my visual message to the Ugandan Church shows our need to be immersed in the Holy Spirit of God. The by-product of being filled with Holy Spirit is a righteousness, peace and joy that can only come by way of Holy Spirit, operating through Spirit filled saints, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom. Seeking that kingdom and its “rightness” unlocks for us avenues where we can expect blessings to flow. Not from formula but rather gifts from a loving Daddy. You know the scripture, Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”. This is just one of many Bible promises where Heaven touches Earth.

Therefore it is only through the manifestation of the New Jerusalem (our spiritual home address) that healing can come to a troubled world and that the “healing of the nations” pours through the Saints of God who are awakened to the truth that we are presently seated (raptured if you will) in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Baptism in Namabassa Uganda near Mbale City

“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. ” Ephesians 2:6,7 NIV.

The Clay at your feet is no different from the clay on the potters wheel. It cannot save itself. But once it’s in the hands of the potter, marvelous things can happen. But you must first surrender.

And again,

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”  Hebrews 12:22-24 NIV.

With the children at Shekinah Glory children’s home. Kwempe Uganda.

Lets take a closer look at the final part of that verse from Hebrews, “a better word than the blood of Abel”.  What does that mean for Uganda? What does that mean for us? And how does that empower the saints today? How can such a revelation help nations in distress?  As we’ll see the blood of Jesus, like the blood of Abel is talking.

Make Pottery. They will come. New Taxi Park Crusade in Kampala Uganda. Large crowds of Muslim Men gather to hear the truth.

You see, after the Fall, death (that was promised) was not fully realized until the moment Cain the elder brother took the life of Abel because Abel’s sacrifice was accepted by God and Cain’s was not.  The death that was promised to Adam bypassed Adam due to the animal sacrifice that the Lord Himself provided to cover Adam and his wife.  In horror Adam learned the painful value of sacrifice as he was the first to witness an innocent creature (that he loved and named) lose its life as a consequence of his disobedience.

With Benjamin Kijjambu, my spiritual son. Uganda is an agricultural wonderland. But if you have no shillings (pennies) to buy, you’ll go hungry.

This traumatic event and its subsequent lesson was no doubt passed along to Adam’s children.  So Abel, understanding the consequences of his father’s disobedience made a blood sacrifice in his worship while Cain did not, only offering a plant sacrifice from the ground.

Fairly typical meal in Uganda. High carb is standard on the menu. Meat is a side dish.

While Abel’s sacrifice predated the requirements of the Law, it also affirms to us our basic need in our relationship with God and that need is a sacrificial death.  The shedding of blood and the covering it provides for our nakedness (our unrighteousness) was the true system of worship up onto the time of Christ when the more excellent ministry was revealed. In Hebrews 9:22 the writer tells us “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins”.

Lunch time at Shekinah Children’s Home. The kids all line up and are well behaved.

Now let’s look deeper at the preceding verses of Hebrews 9, so we can better grasp its greater meaning.

Leardership conference near Mbale, Uganda.

“But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.  How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”  Hebrews 9:11-14 NIV.

Bibles were awarded to Shekinah’s top students. Thank you Lighthouse Church for Bibles.

Therefore the word of the Blood of Jesus (Yahshua, Yahweh’s Salvation) is by far a better word than the blood of Abel.

Churches are poor. Buildings are made of sticks and recycled material.
Nearly all Church plants begin like this.
Well built Mosques are popping up all over Uganda. Saudi Money funds all the construction and most come with a water well. The mosques leaders never ask the attendees for money.

Remember what Yahweh God spoke to Cain after Cain killed his brother, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.” Gen 4:10-12

The children in Mpumudded loved their visit from Olivia Buie. Great Bible messages and hugs.

The curse of the blood of Abel,  the blood of judgement and wrath is now over-ridden by the greater word of Jesus, The Word of God that made His dwelling with man and by such a great sacrifice makes His dwelling in man.   The blood of Jesus, which was shed on the cross and released to the earth and all who dwell in it, was the antidote. Jesus’ shed blood broke the curse that followed Cain and his offspring. The word “offspring” refers to you and me; all of us who came afterward. While hanging on the cross, suffering, Jesus, who is the breaker of the curse on Cain, said, “Father forgive them,” Luke 23:34.

The word (God the Son) became flesh and made His dwelling among us for the purpose of connecting Heaven to the Earth.

“he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,  to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. Ephesians 1:9-10.

Poor village in Kwempe. See what God can do. In you.

“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,  your kingdom come, your will be done,  on earth as it is in heaven.” Matt. 6:9,10.

We are all the same. We are all like a piece of clay that cannot save itself. Come see what God wants to do in your life. Everyone raises their hands to be born again. Do with me Lord as the potter has done with the clay. Amen!

Thus bringing to the Earth what the Earth desperately needs, healing, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

“And the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations” Rev 22: 2.

For five nights we went to see the Wild Ones. The street kids of Mbale. We fed and loved on them.
At the Source of the Nile. Where the famous Nile River gets its start. With Alan Sellis, Brant Chapman and Benjamin.

Most of my ministry is concentrated in my 3 U’s.  So my message to Uganda, Ukraine and  the United States are all the same.  We are the leaves of the Tree.  We are joined to Jesus who is the Tree of Life.  There, we bask in the light of His Glory.  Due to our connection to His light and life source, we produce the Fruit of His Kingdom which is the healing of the nations.

Group selfie time.

“No longer will there be any curse…” Rev 22:3.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”” Romans 10:14-15.

Getting ready to preach at Michael Kipere’s Church in Kwempe.

Therefore it is important we understand that spreading the good news is not merely handing out tickets to heaven.  It is heaven’s only way to touch the Earth and bring healing to the nations. To a world that is crying out for righteousness, peace and joy there is no other solution.

The blood of Jesus has been speaking a better word for the past two thousand years. From the time His blood dripped from His body the Blood of Jesus has penetrated the earth and broke the curse that had ruled mankind since the time of Adam.

I do most of my Baptisms at this site. Where the water is calm. At the Source of the Nile.

With all this being true it behooves us to reexamine our Kingdom responsibility and the Great Commission.

This guy, Charles Gordon, just so happens to know Jonathan Thompson, who I taught pottery. We just so happened to be ministering at the same church conference in Mbale Uganda on the other side of the planet. Remarkable encounter.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!  All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.  God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NIV.

Beautiful site. Alan led the children in a moment in prayer at Shekinah Children’s home.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.” Matthew 28:18-20 NIV.

This point cannot be missed that the Great Commission repeats the original charge given to man at the Beginning. Yahweh’s original idea for man has never changed. The glorious advantage of the New Covenant is the indwelling power of Holy Spirit. Through the blood of Jesus we have been restored to the Garden only now with better internal equipment. The glory that was lost is now regained with “ever increasing glory that comes from the Lord who is the Spirit”. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV.

Genesis 1:26-31 reads:

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Benjamin cleaning young Abraham’s wounds.

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

and Colossians 1:13-14,

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:19-20,

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,  and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

As an ambassador of Christ I look forward to the fruit of the Kingdom springing up from the work I do abroad. But I am not alone in this effort as I join with all the saints throughout the whole earth to bring about a change that the earth itself is crying out for (Romans 8:19-21). So let us continue to join ourselves together as the wind of His Spirit blows to see His kingdom come, His will be done in the earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

Over a thousand souls were saved. Over thirty churches were encouraged with the message of the Potter and the Clay. Correction was brought to error. I was personally involved in over two-hundred baptisms. I distributed over one hundred and fifty Bibles. School fees were paid. Vehicles were repaired. I paid for the construction of a water well. Food was purchased and economic opportunities were advanced. Medical bills were paid.

Just about everything that falls under the umbrella of Christian work, I participated in. You who gave to this work share in the fruit of what was sown. God bless you abundantly with peace and prosperity as you yourselves are moved along on the Potters Wheel of our God. Find your purpose in Him and be faithful in that. Amen.

About to minister at a Christian School in Namabassa. In Uganda, you will never have a day when you question your value.

The needs in Uganda don’t cease when I’m state-side. Everyday I receive request for funds. School fees, food and medical cost are most common. Until things are corrected economically Uganda will always need our help. Please consider a reoccurring donation toward my Uganda work.

UKRAINE

In Dnipro with Alexei (left) and volunteers from House of Hope.

As long as the war rages in Ukraine there will always be needs you can help with. In large part, the humanitarian supplies are getting to the large cities in eastern Ukraine however the responsibility to move those supplies to the many needy villages rest upon local church workers and volunteer chaplains.

These pastors and church volunteers need both fuel and vehicle repair money in order to keep necessary supplies moving. Replacement vehicles are needed as well. They are commonly purchased in Germany, then driven to eastern Ukraine. Your help in any capacity is greatly appreciated.

Victor

In the previous picture is our dear Ukrainian brother Victor.

Left to Right: Nolan, Alexei and Victor at Central Baptist Church in Lviv, Ukraine.

The friendship between Victor and Alexei go way back when they both served in the Soviet Army. The two Christian men supported each other through terrible persecution for their faith. In 2022 Victor was a huge help to us in Ukraine aiding in the movement of humanitarian supplies. Two years ago, Victor was killed in a missile attack while serving in the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsіa. He lived honorably and is greatly missed.

Alexei Basarab

I met Alexei and his family at a church meeting in 2013 in Crestview Florida. We’ve been close ever since. Alexei is from Zaporziah in eastern Ukraine and was both a pastor and musical evangelist. Now a US citizen, he was instrumental in introducing me to many church leaders throughout Eastern Ukraine. I toured three times prior to the war with Russia preaching in many cities. I’ve been to Ukraine twice now since the escalation of hostilities in February of 2022.

Alexei is now a Ukrainian Military Chaplain and an official representative of Ukrainian Chaplaincy in the United States of America. He spends six months a year ministering near the front lines in eastern Ukraine. As president of the U.S. based non-profit organization called Interfaith Brotherhood of Military Chaplains (IBMCUSA), Alexei coordinates fundraising for the needs of Ukrainian Chaplaincy. He is an advocate for the cause of Victory for Ukraine over the Russian aggressors and a source of truthful information about the situation in Ukraine from the point of view of a military chaplain. For more information about IBMCUSA visit their website HERE.
